钛或铌作为稳定化元素加入奥氏体不锈钢中,会提高其抗晶间腐蚀的能力,这是因为它们与碳的结合能力强于铬,使钢中的碳尽量形成TiC、NbC,减少铬与碳结合形成(FeCr)23 C6并从晶界析出的机会,使铬能较好地存在于固溶体中,保持铬的有效浓度,不产生贫铬区。但是,虽然奥氏体不锈钢中含有了足够量的钛或铌,在进行固溶化处理时,在(FeCr)23 C6溶解的同时,TiC,NbC也会溶解,奥氏体中饱和了大量的碳,在以后的450~800℃区间加热时,由于钛或铌的原子半径大于铬的原子半径,钛或铌比铬扩散困难,结果还会形成大量的铬的碳化物。可见,只进行固溶化热处理,钛或铌不能充分发挥作用。

经研究发现,如果把含有稳定化元素的奥氏体不锈钢重新加热到(FeCr)23 C6能溶解,而TiC或NbC不能溶解的温度,此时,从(FeCr)23 C6最简单的微信赚钱方法分解出来的碳又会被钛或铌化合成TiC或NbC,从而最大限度地发挥了钛或铌的作用。使铬没有与碳结合的机会并保持在奥氏体中,这种热处理方法就是含稳定化元素奥氏体不锈钢的稳定化热处理(也叫稳定化退火)。
